Velma I. Spurling, 83, of Moberly, died Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Macon Health Care Center in Macon, MO.  Velma was born April 5, 1933, in Silver City, Iowa to Ora and Nellie (Summers) Rutledge.

She was the former owner and operator of Daylight Donuts.  She was a member of the Moberly First Christian Church.  As a mother she was very active in 4-H, and an active room mother at Renick School and had served on the PTA Board.    Velma will be remembered as a hard working woman who loved to bake, cook, sew, garden, and loved spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored, and she was their “MIMI”.

Velma married Harold Spurling on April 29, 1951 in Moberly and he preceded her in death on October 13, 1990. Also preceding  her in death were her parents, a son Bruce,  five brothers, Ralph, Ernest, Merle, Mervin, Bert, and four sisters Phyllis, Marge, June, and Joyce.

Survivors include her daughters, Robin Spurling of Urbana, Iowa, Lori Windsor and husband Michael of Moberly, three grandchildren, Ryan Windsor, Lynzey Windsor, Whitney Pate and husband Toby, a great-grandchild Jerrett Pate, other relatives and friends.
