Velma Ruth Fitzgerald, 72 passed away peacefully at home after an extended illness on Thursday, June 18, 2015. She was born on January 10, 1943 to Manley ‘Bill’ and Edith Ruhl in Pratt, Kansas. She was raised in Kansas and lived in various states in the west and mid-west before permanently moving to Idaho.
Velma loved animals, particularly strays. Over the years she adopted dogs, parakeets, rabbits, ferrets and cats.
Velma is survived by her husband, Stan Fitzgerald, two sons, Dorman (Lori) Griffith of Meridian, ID and John (Kari) Gustin of Nampa, ID, two step-daughters, Annette Fitzgerald and Christy Griffith of Tucson, AZ, a sister, Ellen (Pat) Buhler of Pinson, AL and a brother, Billy Ruhl of Meridian, ID, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Billy Joe Gustin, her grandson, Shawn Griffith and her sister, Wanda Pettit.
