Velma Mary Callender, 94, passed away at a care center in Boise on December 11, 2017. She will be greatly missed. Velma was born October 6, 1923 in Molalla, Oregon to John H. Gregory and Velma Jewel Denham Gregory. Velma grew up in Oregon, Montana and Idaho. Her parents moved to Malta, Idaho, then to Boise. She attended North Junior High the year it opened in 1937, and graduated from Boise High. She worked as a curb hopper at A&W Root Beer Stand, then at Whitehead Drug and Baldwin’s Market.
