Velma M. Gorce, 92, of Elkhart, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, in Elkhart Hospice House. She was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Archbold, Ohio, to Jacob B. and Mattie (Yoder) Miller. On Nov. 16, 1946, she married Anthony Edward Gorce in Elkhart. He died Aug. 8, 1977.
Mrs. Gorce is survived by two daughters, Cheryl L. (Neil) Herman and Sue Ann Brown, both of Elkhart; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Ken (Sally) Miller of Goshen; and three sisters, Irene Rheinheimer of Goshen, Ruth Ann McGinnis of Elkhart and Phyllis Troyer of Millersburg.
She was preceded in death by one son, Anthony E. Gorce Jr.; three brothers, Glenford Dale, Ora Jay and Harold Miller; and one sister, Lucille Mierau.
Mrs. Gorce worked as a punch operator for more than 20 years at Taylor Products. She attended Silverwood Mennonite Church, Goshen, and loved to play card and board games, cook, sew and travel. She enjoyed making crafts and ceramics.
