Velma Grace Phelps of Lincoln, NE formerly of Belvidere, NE the daughter of Frank and Cora (Warner) Trumble was born July 13, 1914 in Belvidere, NE. She departed this life Saturday August 14, 2010 at Milder Manor in Lincoln, NE at the age of 96 years.

Grace grew up in the Belvidere area attending school and graduating with the class of 1932. She married Dale Dill Phelps the son of Charles and Bertha (Dill) Phelps on August 23, 1933 in Lincoln, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of two children. Deanne Gay born June 8, 1937 in Hebron, NE and Kim Allen born December 10, 1953 in Wichita, KS.

Grace loved caring for children, especially infants. She enjoyed gardening and many tabletop games, especially Scrabble. She faithfully completed the Jumble word puzzle in the newspaper on a daily basis. She also greatly anticipated times spent with her older sisters, their families and other local Belvidere acquaintances.

After Dale’s passing in 1976, Grace returned to Wichita, KS where she continued caring for young children. She was a member of the Greenwich Road Church of Christ in Wichita until returning to Lincoln in 2000.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dale, and one daughter Deanne Gay Blecha and husband John, daughter-in-law Cynthia Phelps, three brothers; Art, Harry, Homer and wife Lois, seven sisters; May Snyder and husband Homer, Nell Dill and husband Earl, Sue Trumble, Frances Trumble, Bertha Saxton and husband Alba, Lucia Baker and husband Charles and Muriel Williamson and husband Harley, brother-in-law Hugh Young.

She is survived by her son Kim Phelps and wife Rebecca of Lincoln, NE, six grandchildren, Kathy Doyle and husband Ron of Wichita, KS, Dianna Lashley and husband Keith of Edmond, OK, Laura Moss and husband Matt of Dallas, TX, Matt, Collin and Caitlin Phelps all of Lincoln, NE, nine great-grandchildren; Austin, Addison, Adam, Alex, Andrew, and Ashton Doyle, Jordan and Chase Lashley, and Harper Moss, one sister Maud Young of Hebron, NE, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
