Velma E. Warran LeDrew, age 98, of Rensselaer passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the Rensselaer Care Center.

Velma was born July 3, 1918, in Rensselaer, Indiana, the daughter of Everette and Lillie (Singles) Burnes. She was a lifetime resident and attended the Rensselaer schools. On December 23, 1933, Velma married Charles Warran. Charles passed away on August 19, 1962. Her second marriage was on May 24, 1969 to Otto LeDrew who passed away on June 28, 2010. Velma was a homemaker and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Rensselaer where she was active in the United Methodist Women Day Circle. She enjoyed playing dartball with the United Methodist Church team for 40 years.

Velma worked at the former Dora’s Grill, The Coffee Cup and Superior Laundromat and had been a cook at the Jasper County Jail. She will be missed by her loving family, daughter Pearl Burnside of Rensselaer, Indiana, son Michael Dean (Kathleen) Warran of DeMotte, Indiana, daughter-in-law Gayla Warran of Rensselaer, Indiana, 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 30 great-great grandchildren, two great-great-great grandchildren and sister-in-law Ruby Wiseman of Canada and special friend Inez Roland.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband’s Charles and Otto, daughter Patricia Gorski, son Roger Warran, daughter Rose Marie Warran, son Thomas Warran and son Charles “Chili” Warran, one sister and four brothers.
