Velma C. (Morris) Wood, 81, passed away Sunday Dec. 27 2015 in McAllen, Texas. She was a resident of Whiteland.

Velma was born Feb. 9, 1934 in Franklin to Dewey Alfred and Ada (Sprowles) Morris.

She married James D.Wood on August 7, 1954; they were married for 61 years.

Velma was employed with Merchants National Bank for 10 years. She was also employed with Clark Pleasant Community Schools as a secretary, retiring in 1989 after 25 years of service.

She was a member of the Greenwood Eastern Star.

Velma enjoyed crocheting, crafting, puzzles and playing golf while spending the winters in Texas for the past 26 years.

Velma was a dedicated wife and mother. She loved visits with family and starting the day off right with breakfast spent with good company. Velma always put her family first and was loved by all that knew her.

She is survived by her husband, James Wood of Whiteland, two children, Steven “Randy”(Faye) Wood of Indianapolis and Cathy (Greg) Reasoner of Seymour, brother, Kenneth Morris of Greensburg, five grandchildren, Nicole Nikirk, Darcy Wood, Stephanie Krietenstein, Natalie Wood and Derek Wood and a great-granddaughter, Lucy Nikirk.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Wilma Watkins.
