VEAO DELBERT PETERSON, 77, a longtime resident of Deming and former resident of Animas passed away Friday April 27, 2012 at Mt. View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces.
Del was born February 11, 1935 in El Paso, Texas to Veao Andrew and Edna Bernice (Shaw) Peterson. He has been a resident of Deming since 1962 having previously lived in Animas. Del was a lifelong rancher and also worked at the Columbus Electric Co-op for 31 years. He was office manager when he retired from there in 1990. Del was also a contractor for the U.S. Mail since 1972 and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Quanah B. Peterson of Deming; sons, Wesley Peterson and his wife Dianna of Deming, Clay Peterson and his wife Karolyn of Animas; brothers, Andy Peterson and his wife Louise of Hachita, Hugh Peterson and his wife Glenna, and Pete Peterson and his wife Lauren all of Animas; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
