Vance Hager Pennington, age 82, of Edgewater, Florida, died November 27, 2008 at home. Born in Cramerton, North Carolina, Mr. Pennington, a retired textile weaver, moved to the area in April from Tallahassee.
Mr. Pennington served in the United States Navy during both WWII, where he was in the Invasion of Normandy, and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in both North Carolina and Tallahassee, the VFW and the American Legion. Mr.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Sarah; 3 children, Donald J. and his wife Irene of Gastonia, NC, Libby Maumberg and her husband Rex of Edgewater, LCDR Tonie Gaskin and her late husband, Paul, of Jacksonville; 1 sister, Margaret Nixon of Gastonia, NC; 6 grandchildren, Donald, Jr., Craig, David, Stephen, Stephanie, Sarah Ann; 7 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
