Van Dale Clayton, 66, of Osage, AR passed from this life into an eternity with his LORD on January 16, 2016. He was born December 2, 1949 in Walnut Ridge, AR, the son of Richard John Clayton and Genendal (King) Clayton He was a 1968 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School. As a member of the United States Navy, Van served his country on the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War. He was a minister with the Church Of God Association and had pastored a number of churches in Texas and Arkansas. Van also served as Chief of Police in Crandall, TX as well as a police and warrant officer and later worked for Terrell State Hospital.

On June 5, 2009 he was united in marriage with Carolyn Ruth (Cochran). He enjoyed deer hunting, working in the garden, riding his 4-wheeler and motorcycle, tinkering in his workshop and pursuing his passion of Pastoral and Biblical Studies.

Van is survived by his wife, Carolyn Clayton, his mother, Genendal Clayton of Walnut Ridge, sons, Richard Dale Clayton and wife Alicia of Corpus Christi, TX, Justin Heath Clayton and wife Neryeda of Deer Park, TX, daughter, Tara Ybarbo and husband Adolfo JR of Ingleside, TX, sisters, Donna Beaube and husband George of Baytown, TX, Ida Hewett and husband Don of Corning, AR, step-children, Jerrit Bell of Osage and Christy Hinkson and husband Paul of Harrison, 8 grandchildren, 1 great- grandchild and one step-grandchild. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle to whom he was very close to, R.L. (Cub) and Clydia (Kay) Baer of Fenton, MO.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Clayton his second wife, Cheryl Clayton and one sister, Chris Stewart.
