Valesca Louise Wallner, 98

Valesca Wallner died just short of her 99 birthday on June 30, 2016 at The Springs in Whitefish.

She was born in 1917 in Loganville, Wisconsin to Ernest and Dorthea (Hennings) Riggert.  She later moved to Reedsburg where she attended grade school and high school.  In 1939 she received a B.S. in education from the University of Wisconsin @ Madison.  After graduating she lived and worked in Madison for the State Medical Society.  In April of 1944 she married Alfred Wallner.  While Alfred was in the Medical Corp of the U.S. Air Force during World War II, she lived in Van Nuys, CA.  After his discharge Alfred served a surgical residency during which they lived in both Van Nuys and Long Beach, CA.   They finally moved to Kalispell in 1953, and she lived there up until she moved to The Springs in 2013.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her daughter Libby.

She is survived by two daughters — Anita and husband David Garten of Houston, TX and Kristin McIntyre of Kalispell and two sons — Fred and wife Mary Kay of Kalispell and Richard of Vancouver, B.C.  as well as five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Valesca outlived most all her old friends but made new ones up at The Springs, most notably her dear friends Jo and Vivian, along with the ladies of her bridge group and most recently Joan.  Her body gave out the last few years but her mind was sharp until the end.  She will be dearly missed.

The family would like to express special thanks to the loving and caring staff at The Springs in Whitefish.  They took such good care of our Mom during her three-year stay and especially during the last few difficult weeks.  The caregivers there are absolute angels.
