Valerie is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years, Steve Franklin; 2 sons, Christopher Franklin (Sonya) of Gardendale and Alex Franklin of Pinson; 2 grandchildren, Brianna and Tyler Franklin of Gardendale; 2 sisters, Melody S. Wesson of McCalla and Tamara S. Sisson (Paul) of Gardendale; 3 brothers, Jay Spearman of Center Point, John Spearman, Jr. (Charlene of Mobile, and David Spearman (Linda) of Michigan. She is preceded in death by her parents, John P. and Charlotte Spearman. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. She was a vocalist who sang with several different bands around Birmingham, AL area and other states. She loved her 4 cats that she had rescued.
