Valarie Naomi Billups was born January 24, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana to
proud parents William Freeman and Levie Coe-Burrus.
Valarie attended Indianapolis public schools.

from Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis, Indiana in1959 . A lover of
fashion, she joined a modeling agency and perfected her poise and presence. She
attended Indiana Central College to study business. She married Charles Billups
and to this union two children were born, daughter, Charlena Paulette and son,
William Freeman. Valarie was employed by Greyhound Bus Corporation for
nearly 30 years. There she worked as a telephone operator, ticket agent, and
general manager before retiring. She was also employed by USA Group and
Indiana Mentors.

Worldwide where she served as a faithful usher.
She was a loyal member of the Order of the Eastern Star Celestial Star chapter
61 serving as Matron in 1981. She also performed the duties of Associate
Conductress, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Bearer of the Christian flag and
various appointed positions.

Nieces and Nephews, who affectionately called her Aunt Valáre, considered her

her home any time to relax and just be themselves.

at Coe Ridge Kentucky. Labor Day weekends she would organize a family picnic
with her siblings and their children where we would go boating, horseback
riding or hiking at an Indiana state park.
On Monday, May 4, 2020 a void was created that will never be filled. Valarie
Naomi Burrus-Billups was called home to be with God. She was preceded in
death by her sister Elsie Burrus, her parents William and Levie Burrus, her son
William Billups and her brothers Billy and Aprintis Burrus. Left to cherished
her memory is her daughter Charlena Kendrick (Keith), grandchildren Valara
Anderson, Lauren Barnes (Aaron), Keith Coe Kendrick, Keiara Kendrick , great-
along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
We shall all miss your strength, your laugh, your wisdom and your quick wit.
