Vaigalepa Kaulave-Ioane

Vaigalepa Kaulave-Ioane was born in the small town of Lelepa, Savaii, in Samoa. Her parents were Tataimata Pilisaua Lealaiauloto Elekana and Elepise Noa Tataimata Pilisaua Elekana. She was one of 11 children. Vaigalepa was an educator at heart as she was the first teacher for all of her children during her tenure as an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Preschool teacher for the American Samoa Department of Education. She was also a prominent Sunday and Bible school teacher in her younger days. In her later years, she loved to travel and visit her children and grandchildren, who brought her so much pride and joy. “Vai”, as most people knew her, had a generous heart that gave without hesitation to anyone that was in need. This included helping to relocate her family members from Samoa to American Samoa and beyond for better opportunities for them and their families. From her humble beginnings to her last years, she continued to be a source of light, inspiration, and happiness to all of her children and grandchildren. Her smile, her laugh, and her strength are terribly missed. Vaigalepa is survived by her husband Felise Ioane and her children: Tomasi, Noa, Elepise, Taufusi and Rodney and all of her grandchildren. She joins our brother Vaipuna in heaven to prepare a place for all of us in our Lord’s Kingdom.
Our sincerest “fa’afetai tele lava” for your expressions of love and support during this difficult time. May God bless and keep you and your families.
