Upton Alva Funkhouser, 90, of Grafton, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014, at his residence with family by his side. He was born June 25, 1923, in Bobtown, PA, son of the late Sam and Mary Phillips Funkhouser. Upton was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte M. Godwin Funkhouser on April 7, 2005. Upton was a US Army/Air Corp Veteran during WWII where he received seven bronze stars. He retired from the saw mill on Traps Springs as a sawyer. He loved Bent and Wiggly Puzzles and watching the Birds. He was a life member of the Central WV DAV Chapter 24. Surviving are one daughter, Judy Murray, Grafton, one grandson, Jason and Billie Knotts, three granddaughters; Stephanie and Kevin Marks, Meredith Bolyard, and Megan Funkhouser; great granddaughters, Maddy Knotts and Shawna Gray; special great grandson, Colby Gray and several additional great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son; Shawn Funkhouser, one son-in-law; Jimmie Murray, two sisters; Violet Larew, and Winnie Lipscomb, two brothers; Milford Funkhouser and Sam Funkhouser.
