He was born in Luling, Louisiana to John Ubert Labat, Sr. and Yvonne Champagne Labat. He is also pre-deceased by his sister Eulah Labat Gregory, Yvonne Labat Dunaway, and brother Newton Labat. He is survived by his brothers Raymond Labat, Alvin Labat, and sister Linda Labat Ball. Ubert was also blessed with an extended family of step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
