Trumal R. Canfield, age 83 of Thornton, WV, passed from the last season of his life to begin a new eternal life with the Lord, Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Golden Living in Morgantown surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 9, 1929 in Independence, WV, a son of the late Hobart Franklin Canfield and Ruby Etna (Stemple) Canfield. His wife of 53 years, Betty Jo (Paige) Canfield, whom he married June 11, 1955, preceded him in death November 6, 2008.
Mr. Canfield was a 1948 graduate of Newburg High School, he was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a Mine Construction supervisor for various mining companies, and was last employed at the Tygart Lake Lodge.
Mr. Canfield is survived by three daughters: DeAnna and Mark Mewshaw, Elissa and Jeff Stewart, Katereni and John Coffman all of Grafton; a son Joe and Susan Canfield of Pella, IA; fifteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Burchfield, of Norfolk, VA; ; several nieces and nephew; and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by: one brother, Jesse D. Canfield; one sister Sarah Watkins.
