Troy Dale Hood of Belton passed away July 14, 2022. Troy was born May 11, 1946, to John O. Hood and Charlene (Turnbo) Hood in Belton.

He grew up in the Killeen area, moving to Belton his freshman year in high school, to become a true TIGER. He married his high school sweetheart Glena Clinton in 1966 and graduated from Tarleton University with a BBA in 1968. His son Paul was born in 1970. Troy served as business manager for several universities including UMHB, Texas Wesleyan, Vernon College, and University of Central Texas. Combining his business knowledge and love of animals, Troy created TGP cattle company raising Charolais cattle. His interest then moved to breeding, raising, and showing cutting horses where he received many awards and was inducted to the Bell County Cowboy Ring of Honor.

Upon retirement, he joined his cousin Jerry Hood in business and became a full-time rancher where he shared his knowledge and love of horses with many of his family members creating memories for them that will last a lifetime. Troy was an avid wood carver whittling hundreds of horse themed carvings using only his pocketknife and a knife sharpener. He was a lover of all animals, beginning with his childhood pony, Tiny, his FFA show heifer, My Pride, and many cats and dogs including his last love, a rescue dog named Daisy.

He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are wife of 56 years, Glena; son Paul (Christy), two grandchildren, Mason (Erin) and Megan, one great-grandson, Pace; his brothers, Terry (Janet) and Tommy (JoAnne); and many nieces and nephews.
