Trooper Daniel Roy Barrett, age 25, Logansport, passed away at 10:42 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2008, on US 31 south of SR 110 in Fulton County.
Born October 27, 1982, in Logansport, he was the son of Vincent D. and Sarah J. Hanna Barrett. His parents survive, residing in Logansport.
Daniel Barrett joined the Indiana State Police in 2007. Becoming a state trooper was his long-time goal. His fluency in Spanish allowed him to assist in several situations during his short career. Dan was enthusiastic about all aspects of his new job.
Prior to joining the state police, Dan had been employed as a correctional officer for the State of Indiana. A 2002 graduate of Logansport High School, Daniel took criminal justice courses at Indiana University – Kokomo and Ivy Tech State College. While in high school he went on a “dinosaur dig” in South Dakota, which he enjoyed very much.
Daniel also enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers and all outside activities. Described by friends and family as charitable and good-hearted, he enjoyed creative writing, arts & crafts and woodworking. He enjoyed cooking and baking, making apple pies and pie crusts. In 2003 Daniel was a contestant on the “Hoosier Millionaire” show.
He was eagerly looking forward to the birth of his first nephew, Nicholas “Daniel” Barrett.

Great aunts and a great uncle, Frances Isabelle “Aunt Izzy” Roberson, Kokomo; John F. and Carolyn Appleton, Logansport;
Several cousins survive as well as good friends, Justin Bault and Bob German.
He was preceded in death by an uncle, William Barrett, and an aunt, Mary Louise Hanna.
