Trina Manuel (AKA, BUBBLES), was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Hodges Harold Dykes, of Jackson County Florida, and Vivian Phyllis York, of Annapolis, Indiana on January 9th 1961 @0853. She was the only child of the two, but has a half sister from her father’s side, Judith Dykes. Trina moved to San Diego in 1981 to start a new life. She loved San Diego. She would eventually cross paths with her forever Partner, Her husband, Andre in 1997. Trina and Andre were meant for each other, as they both faced difficulties in their past life. But, when they joined together, they were unstoppable. We had a nickname for ourselves, “Bonnie & Clyde”.
We, as most couples face challenges that by popularity should have killed us, But God, he had a plan for us. After climbing out of the pit, supporting and pushing each other to be our best, it paid off.
Trina joined the team at Sheraton Hotel and Marina on Harbor Island in early 2000, and would eventually make it her second home away from home. She remained there til the end.
Trina, is a selfless, caring individual that would go out of her way to remember those she loved. Whether bringing candies to her place of employment to share amongst her staff, to never forgetting to send thank you cards to individual’s on holidays. Trina was raised protestant, until she met Andre. Since that time, she came to know the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in 2006, and was baptized in the Name of Yeshua, Jesus in the same year.
Trina is survived by her husband of 16 years, Andre Manuel, though they were friends 8 years before they took their vowels. Her son, Tola Mesick, grandson Lane Messick, her half Sister, Judith Dykes, her Boss, whom she looked up to as a father figure, Gary Phillips, and a slew of family and friends.
Trina’s warm smile, and bubbly personality will be deeply missed by those who knew her well.
