Trigger Lee Jones Mays, affectionately known as “Trig” was born December 25, 1934 the fifth child of ten children to the late John M. “Papa” Jones of Town Creek, AL and the late Mae Fannie “Mother” Jones of Courtland, AL.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Leo Jones, John M. ”Reed” Jones, Jr., Joseph Hubbard Jones and her sisters Anne Gay Mason, Ruth “Squirrel” Cooper and Ruby “Rabbit” Bates.

On Monday, August 17, 2015 at 6:15 a.m. at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, Florence, AL Trig heard the voice of The Master call her name.  She confessed hope in Christ at a young age and joined First Missionary Baptist Church, Town Creek, AL, where she was a member of the Choir and served on the Missionary Society.  Trig (Mom) was a good wife and a devoted mother, a good friend to all and loved by those who knew her best.  She graduated from Central High School in 1952.

Trig married James T. Mays (Deceased) in 1952 and lived in Texas where he was stationed as an Air Force Airman until their divorce in 1955.  She later married John Wesley King (Deceased) in 1958 and lived in Town Creek, AL until their divorce in 1964.

She moved to Courtland, AL in 1965 and worked for the Quaker Oats company until she became disable.  At the birth of her grandson (Chandler), she moved to Fort Washington, MD to care for him until he went off to Day Care.  She finally moved back to Town Creek, AL in 2001.  In 2007 when her health failed, she was unable to care for herself; she was then admitted to Genesis Health Care Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia, AL.

She leaves to cherish her memory; a son James (Wanda) Mays of Fort Washington, MD, a grandson Chandler James Hairston Mays of Fort Washington, MD, her older sister Cigger Lee Duckett of Madison, AL, her baby brother Minister James (Amanda) Johnson of Courtland, AL, her baby sister Climmie “Peaches” (Richard) Love of Huntsville, AL and a half-brother Robert Jones of Battle Creek, Michigan, sister-in-law Mrs.
