Tommie L. Ford AKA: Huggie Bear March 31, 1934-June 3, 2019 Tommie Ford passed away peacefully in Anchorage, AK on June 3,2019.
Tommie was born in Memphis, TN to Lula and Tom Ford. He received and honorable discharge after serving in the U.S Air Force. He moved to Anchorage, AK in 1974 where he resided until his death. He leaves behind his loving daughter, Brenda Ford of Memphis, TN, many nieces and nephews in Alaska, Tennessee and Washington State and his nephew, Larry Johnson (wife Deborah) of Chugiak, AK, who were by his side when he passed. Tommie, who was known by his friends as “Huggie Bear”, was a very likable man.
He was “Alaska-tough” with a friendly and patient demeanor, thus his nickname. He enjoyed landscaping and helping others with odd jobs. A special thanks to Merly and Paulo of M.G.D. Assisted living home for the care and compassion they provided for Tommie as well as Dr. Mueller and team and JBER ICU. Tommie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
