Tommie Devon “DJ” Jackson was born Feb. 6, 1986 to the parentage of the late Tommie Lee Jackson Jr. and Atlean Williams Jackson.
A 2005 graduate of Jackson High School, he was a member of the Aggie marching band and the Aggie Choir. Following graduation DJ attended Miles College in Fairfield, where he was a member of the Miles College Choir. He resided in Birmingham for a few years before relocating to St. Lousi, MO. where he worked as an AT&T customer service representative until God called him home.
DJ accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Olive No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, under the leadership of Rev. W.T. Lang, where he was a member of the choir and crusaders. Active in local, state and national conventions, he was the lead singer in the choir on numerous occasions. He also participated in and directed several musical workshops throughout Clarke County.
Preceding him in death were his parents; grandparents, Ola B. and Allen Williams Sr., and Tommie Lee Jackson Sr.; aunts, Carolyn Jackson and Gretchen Graham; and uncle, Timmie Lee Jackson.
His memories will forever be cherished by his brother, Javares “Bob” Jackson; sisters, Avetta “DeeDee” Williams of Jackson and Kimberly (Julius) Williams of Montgomery; three nieces, Jameshia Williams, Yasmine King and Kelsey Williams; nephew, Julius Gavyn Williams; grandmother, Elizabeth Pearson Jackson of Jackson; aunts, JoAnn (Cleveland) Garner and Kenneth Jackson, both of Jackson, Jean (Jim) Gulley, Louise (Michael) Gulley and Daisy (Eddie) Bettis all of Leroy, Delia (William) Hunter of Montgomery, Stacey (Henry) Moore of McKinney, Texas and Johnnie Lee Tate of Mobile; uncles, Kenneth Williams, Allen (Vera) Williams and Bobby (Angela) Stephens all of Jackson, Michael Taylor of Jasper, Texas, Robert (Mary) Brooks of Los Angeles, Calif., Larry (Angela) Stephens, all of Mobile, Tommie (Carlissa) Harris of Chattanooga, Tennises., and Alonzo Jackson of Montgomery; with cousins, great aunts and great uncles and other relatives and friends, three devoted, Jeanette Perry of Birmingham, LaTonja Piner of Calera and Brittney Umukoro of Atlanta, GA.
