Tommie Cathryn Byrd, age 94, of Birmingham passed away on July 14, 2022. She was born to W. E. Hinesley and Gertrude Smith Hinesley on December 7, 1927 in Cullman County, AL. Mrs. Byrd spent her early life in Carrollton, GA where she graduated from Carrollton High School.
Mrs. Byrd was a talented seamstress and worked as a telephone operator. She was of Baptist faith and a devoted Christian. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed crafts, sewing and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William C. Byrd; her parents and two brothers, Delton Hinesley and Clint Hinesley, and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl R. Byrd.
Mrs. Byrd is survived by her children, Linda C. Hendrix (Lonnie), Brenda B. Brown; William C. Byrd, Jr. (Janet); David Byrd (Vicki); grandchildren, Amy H. Kester (Keith), Jason A Hendrix (Starla), Robyn N. Howard (Jesse), Nathan Brown (Angel), David M. Byrd (Lesley), Allison B. Pearce (Nate), Amanda B. Byrd, April Everett (Chris),Brooke Howard and Bryan Lokey (Ariana); twenty-nine great grandchildren; one niece, Frances Cox (Ben).
