Tomeka Elizabeth Pernell-Lucyies, a resident of Jackson, traded time for eternity on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022 while at Jackson Medical Center in Jackson. Born July 25, 1993 to Kenetha V. Jackson and Derrick K. Pernell, Tomeka was 28 years of age.  

Tomeka was graduate of Jackson High School in the Class of 2012; she furthered her education at Alabama Southern Community College in Thomasville. She worked at various jobs, even though her health began to fail her. A member of Miles Chapel C.M.E. Church in Lower Peach Tree, she worked with the youth and was the choir director.

Preceding her in death was her grandfather, the Rev. Tommie Lee Jackson Sr.; grandmother, Charlotte Pernell; and several aunts and uncles.

Tomeka leaves to cherish her precious memories her husband, Willie Jermaine Lucyies of Jackson; mother, Kenetha V. Jackson of Jackson; father, the Rev. Derrick K. Pernell of Flint, Mich.; grandmother, Elizabeth Pearson Jackson; grandfather, the Rev. Douglas Pernell, both of Jackson; sisters, Faith Pernell and Kierra Dubose, both Grove Hill; god-sister, Miyahnni Holloway of Scyrene; nephew, D’eries Montreal Patterson of Foley; special best friend, Devonte Dean of Monroeville; her crew, Javares Jackson, Yazmin King and Jameshia Williams; with a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
