Tomas Ortiz “El Magnate”, 73, of Wethersfield, died peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Maria (Ramos) Ortiz. Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico to Vicente and Benedicta (Rodriguez) Ortiz, he resided in Wethersfield for many years. Tomas retired from Arbor Acres, was a huge Yankees fan, and loved his collection of classical model cars, his favorite being a 1957 Chevy Bel Air. A loving and devoted father and grandfather, he leaves two sons Rogelio Ortiz, Tomas Ortiz, Jr. and his wife Katherine Ramirez; a daughter Patricia Ortiz; and four grandchildren, Daniel Nuñez, Delilah Aguilar, Leila Ortiz and Santiago Ortiz. He also leaves a brother Efrain Ortiz and two sisters Virgen Ortiz and Carmen Brigantty; and several nieces and nephews.
