Tom Lembas, age 57, entered eternal life on Friday, August 27th, with his best friend and partner, Ken Boudreau at his side. Tom lived graciously and courageously fighting cancer for over 10 years until the very end. Although deeply saddened by his death, Tom’s family and friends have been blessed by the true miracle of his extended life.
Born January 2, 1964, in Detroit, Michigan to Robert and Mary Jane (Shelton) Lembas, the family moved to Bensenville, Illinois when Tom was 9, and then attended Fenton High School graduating in 1982. After some time living in Chicago, Tom moved to California, eventually settling in Chandler and then Scottsdale, Arizona for the last years of his life.
Tom enjoyed traveling the world. Over the last several years, Tom and Ken travelled to many US locations and several international destinations around the world. Tom’s favorite vacation spot was Australia having travelled there close to 20 times in his lifetime!
Tom loved spending time calling his family and friends.
An extremely personable and giving friend, Tom was the most genuine man you would ever meet. He would ensure that whether for family, friends, or customers, everyone was happy – even if it meant hardship for himself. Tom selflessly gave everything to others, made their world a better place and was simply an amazing individual. He was admired and well loved by everyone he met.
Tom is survived by his partner of 15 years, Ken Boudreau of Scottsdale, Arizona, brother Dave (Katie) Lembas of Bartlett, Illinois, sister Deanna (Tom) Evans of North Hollywood, California, step-mother Chris Kittredge of Clarkdale, Arizona, nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and Ken’s mother, Dorothy Boudreau.
A special thank you to Dr. Thai Ho and his oncology team at Mayo Clinic for their kindness, compassion and expert care the past eight years.
