The world is a little less fun and interesting today because Tom Kendall passed away.  Surrounded by family members, he died on February 11th from lung cancer. A family man and friend to all he met, Tom married his best friend, Mary Lou Watkins, in 1969 with whom he raised four children: Jennifer (Stewart) Weaver, Thomas (Kristie) Kendall, Jr., Rebecca (Scott) Maloney, and Andy (Misty) Kendall.

A Renaissance man, Tom was an avid outdoorsman, especially when it came to hunting, fishing, golfing, and photography; youth basketball coach and volunteer coach at Purdue University for track and cross country; teacher, salesman, and bargain-hunter extraordinaire. From setting up Mass on the Grass to cooking for many, many Purdue students, Tom was a devoted volunteer at St. Thomas Aquinas.

Born to Paul and JoAnne Kendall on May 8, 1947, Tom grew up in Marion, Indiana, where he earned his Eagle Scout Award and attended Bishop Bennett High School. He graduated from Purdue in 1970 and was a passionate Purdue fan and resident of West Lafayette, Indiana, for the last 34 years.

Tom is survived by his wife Lou, their children, and their grandchildren, Adam and Alex Weaver (Jennifer) of Mason, Ohio; Lillie, Emma, Clara Jean, and Della Kendall (Thomas) of Spring Hill, Tennessee; Kelsey, Chase, and Landon Maloney (Rebecca) of The Woodlands, Texas; J.T. and Lettie Kendall (Andy) of Bakersfield, California; and great-grandchild, Abree Kate Long of Spring Hill. Tom is also survived by brothers, Dave (Ginger) of Austin, Texas, and Mike (Alice) of Lindsay, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.

All are cordially invited to Tom’s birthday party and celebration of life on Saturday, May 7th, 2022, at the Sam Voinoff Pavilion at Purdue’s Ackerman-Allen Golf Course, 1300 Cherry Lane, West Lafayette, IN 47907.
