Todd, the son of David and Shirley (Schwabauer) Esrey, was born September 7, 1963, in Orange County, CA. He graduated from Orange High. He was united in marriage with Penny Rodewald on April 29, 1984, in Anaheim, CA. They resided in Orange County until 2001, when they moved to Newton. Todd had been employed as a merchandiser for Acosta. Todd enjoyed radio-controlled planes and boats, woodworking, and cars. He was a wonderfully flawed man who loved to tell stories at length and in great detail. He was very proud of his sons and loved his grandbabies deeply. He was a willing and patient teacher who was ready to help his kids at a moment’s notice.
Todd is survived by his wife, Penny of Newton; sons, Jacob Esrey (Tena Hausefus) of Liscomb and Kyle (Jennifer) Esrey of Grinnell; his grandchildren: Dillon Cook, Colton Cook, Kaylee Esrey (Queen of All the World), Jacob Esrey, Ryan Esrey, and Samuel Esrey; his brother, Troy (Susan) Esrey of Wiley, TX; and his nephews, David Esrey and Adam Esrey of Wiley, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents.
