He was born March 14, 1956, in Jacksonville, the son of Edwin G. and Virginia M. Bill Olson. He married Beverly J. Rees on Oct. 4, 1985, and she survives in Franklin.

He is also survived by his daughters, Kelse (Justin) Mather and Shelbe Olson, both of Franklin; his step-son, Billy Austin and his son Bentley, both of Waverly; two brothers, Ted (Earlene) Olson of Terre Haute, IN, and Tim (Gail) Olson of Jacksonville; three nephews, Justin Doolin, Jeff (Rachel) Olson and Patrick Olson; two nieces, Tara Swanepoel and Tanya (Mike) Ramm; and his aunt, Doris Bowlby of Pekin. He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Eric Olson; and an aunt, Ruth Ronzani.

Mr. Olson was a 1974 graduate of Jacksonville High School and then attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He was a master woodworker, and owned and operated Olson Cabinet and Millwork. In 1989, he and his good friend Clark Wagner formed Wagner-Olson Construction. He was thought of as the original “American Picker”. He was a member of the Jacksonville Elks, the Franklin Lions Club, and had served on the Franklin School Board.

Tod’s real passion was music. He was a very talented self-taught pianist, and had played in many local bands. He loved his pets, was sentimental and family oriented, and was the family’s “favorite uncle”. He especially loved being a father.
