Tina M. (Concetta) Fresa Cavallaro, 86, of Branford, passed away Sept. 30, 2009 in St. Raphael’s Hospital. She was the widow of George F. Cavallaro. Mrs. Cavallaro was born in Naples, Italy Feb. 13, 1923, daughter of the late Gennaro and Assunta Perrone Fresa. While growing up in Italy, she played professional volleyball, which enabled her to travel throughout Italy. She met her future husband while he was stationed in Italy with the U.S. Army during World War II. They married in October of 1945 and she came to the United States in April 1946. She operated Cavallaro’s Market on Indian Neck Ave. in Branford (better known as “Tina’s) for 58 years until her retirement.
