SGT. Timothy “Tim” W. Lynch, age 70, of Roswell, New Mexico passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021.  Tim was born in Roswell, New Mexico on October 29.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Marie Lynch and the mother of his children, Sally Christine (Lee) Lynch.

Tim is survived by his daughters, Carissa Lynch (Tina), Nicole “Nikki” Duran (Craig), and Cybil Lynch, his sister Patricia “Patty” Thornton (Gar), and his niece, Amy Thornton.  Tim’s grandchildren from his three daughters respectively, are Noah Lynch, Hailey Lynch, Kelsie Duran, Kirsten Duran, Kaylen Duran, Karly Duran, Renden Duran, and Madisen Duran, Brittany Lynch, Christopher Lynch and Tim’s great-granddaughter Luna Villa.

Tim is survived by his dear friend Rebecca “Becky” (Thompson) Lynch and her family.

In Tim’s youth he enjoyed playing baseball and was a pitcher and 2nd baseman for the Lions Sierra Little League and the Lions Sierra Allstar team.  In his adult years, he put his skills to use by co-coaching little league teams alongside his dad, Ed Lynch.  After graduating from Roswell High School, he decided to follow in his dad’s footsteps by joining the United States Air Force and serving our country at Dyess Airforce Base in Abilene, TX.  Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Roswell and within a few years, received his Bachelor of Science degree in both American History and Political Science from Eastern New Mexico University.  He was also a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Tim was a veracious reader and history buff.  He enjoyed home remodeling projects and building scale models.  His 4’ hand-built scale model of the battleship, “The USS Arizona” won a blue ribbon at the Eastern NM State Fair.  He continued his love for building models and sharing this love with his grandson, Noah.

As Tim’s daughters grew up and they played softball, you would often see Tim and his Dad at the games, not in the stands, but at the end of the outfield by the fence talking and coaching.

Tim’s charm, laugh, and his rolling of his blue eyes whether, he did this by annoyance or silliness will be dearly missed.  Dad is saying right now as I write this, “ooh, golly…”
