Timothy “Scott” Brattain, loving superhero to many, died peacefully at the age of 41 on July 30th at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC after complications from a liver transplant, his ultimate Kryptonite.
Scott married his very own Lois Lane, better known as Jan Martin, on October 10, 2009 in Peoria, IL. Jan Brattain and their four-legged child, Gridley, of Apex, NC survive along with Scott’s parents Robbie and Danny Evans of Osgood, IN and Mahlon and Kathy Brattain of Westport, IN. He is also survived by siblings: Tammy (Todd) Borgman (Batesville, IN); Robert (Angie) Evans (Cross Plains, IN); Jane (Randy) Hammons (Madison, IN); Sara (Clay) Campbell (Fishers, IN); Chase (Dawn) Brattain (Westport, IN); and his father and mother in-law Mike and Julie Martin of Warsaw, IN. In addition, Scott’s nieces and nephews were his beloved Justice League.
Scott graduated from Jac-Cen-Del High School in Osgood and attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Scott was an avid collector of comic books, superhero memorabilia and an aficionado of pop culture. His love of KISS, old-school country music and bad TV shows was legendary – but nothing defined Scott as much as his love of comics. He put his powers to good use working at ACME Comics and Ultimate Comics.
His legion of super-friends knew that he would do anything for those he loved – of which there were many. He was gifted in his ability to fix almost anything and was actually ‘that guy’ who you could call on to help with the tasks everyone else avoided. Scott was known for his entertaining stories, which will be greatly missed by all.
It goes without saying that Scott would want the big reveal – yes, his secret identity was indeed Superman (sorry Clark Kent).
