Timothy “Tim” Scanlon, 58, of Salem, passed away Monday, November 18, 2019 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
He was born March 5, 1961 in Chicago, son of Joseph Stanley Scanlon and Lorraine (Lange) Scanlon. He married Beverly Dodson on March 17, 2015 and she survives in Salem.
In addition to his wife of 4 years, Beverly Scanlon of Salem, he is also survived by five children: Timothy Scanlon and wife Bridgette of Effingham, Jessica Newcomb and husband Mark of Centralia, Barbara Chancellor and husband Jess of Salem, Michael Hester and wife Sydney of Salem and Faith Leadingham and husband Brett of Keenes; fifteen grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters: Joanne Scanlon of Chicago, Kathy Pineiro and husband Fred of Tennessee, John Scanlon of Georgia, Joe Scanlon and wife Robin of Chicago, and Richard Scanlon and wife Carol of Chicago; a sister-in-law: Tammy Lange of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; family friends: Abby Tabolt and husband Ryan of Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Robert Lange
Tim worked at Hollenkamp Trucking for 15 years as a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and working on cars. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. Most of all he cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
