Timothy Ray Wilks, a Semmes, AL resident for many years, passed away on June 15, 2016, and went home to be with God.  Tim was born in Kerrville, TX on September 30, 1953.  He is preceded in death by his father Billy Ray Wilks, and his mother Patricia Morrow Reid.  He is survived by his loving wife Linda Fitzmaurice-Wilks, his stepchildren Kurt M. (Aggie) Stephens Jr. of Plainville, CT, Gwendolyn E. Stephens and her partner David Schmidt of Burlington, CT, and his beloved grandchildren Sydney, Troy, Alex and Zoey, he also leaves behind his Texas family, his brother Mark (Samantha) Wilks of Port Aransas, TX, niece Felicia Wilks of Austin, TX, his sister Kimberley D. Wilks of Austin, TX and niece Stella Wilks Luck of Austin, TX, and his aunts Clara Heimer of Mabank, TX, and Mary Dell Heitkamp of New Braunfels, TX.  Tim is also survived by his stepfather Frank Reid of New Braunfels, TX, and step-sister Valerie Reid Robertson of Bulverde, TX, as well as numerous extended family and friends throughout the United States.

Tim was a member of The United States Coast Guard for 23 years and came to Alabama as an Aviation Electronics Technician. He also held the aircrew position of navigator on search and rescue helicopters.  He often talked of returning to Texas, and a part of his heart always remained there, but after many years in Alabama, he decided to settle here and make it his home. Tim loved his family more than anything, both the family he was born into and the family he married into, and was especially proud of being “Pop Pop” to his adored grandchildren.  He was an avid fisherman and loved to tell the stories of the fish that got away.  He also loved gardening, and working and tinkering in his yard, laboring hard watching it grow and taking pride in a job well done. Tim was a huge animal lover.  Every animal that Tim met, loved him and they all knew they could count on him for a “scritch” behind the ears and a treat.  Every pet Tim owned was rescued, and once they came into his home they never knew anything but love and affection, inevitably becoming very spoiled.

It is with great sadness that we say good by to Tim. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all. But we are comforted knowing he will again be embraced by the family and friends that left this earth before him.
