He grew up outside of Odessa, Texas, in the Phillips Petroleum camp of Goldsmith. He reminisced often about many adventures in the camp with his friends. He graduated from Odessa High School, Odessa, TX in 1969. He attended college and graduated from Southwest Texas College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement. After graduation from college, he worked as a Texas State Highway Patrolman. Later, he took a job as a mainline engineer for Phillips Pipeline, the same company his father retired from. After a motorcycle accident in 1994 that claimed his left leg below the knee, he went back to school at Otero Junior College where he earned his Licensed Practical Nurse degree. He worked as an LPN at Amarillo Veteran’s Administration Medical Center and later at the Bruce McCandless Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Florence, Colorado. During that time he went back to school for his Registered Nurse degree, commuting from Canon City to La Junta while working. After successfully earning that degree, he attained the position of Nurse II. Later he transferred from the Colorado State Nursing Home facility to the Colorado State Department of Corrections – Fremont. He medically retired from that facility in June 2012, when the chemotherapy he was receiving made it too difficult to continue. On December 5, 1993, he married Cheryl Ann Dowell in La Junta, Colorado. Together, they gave life to three daughters, Taylor Nichole, Katie Shay, and Mackenzie Brooke, all of the family home. He is also survived by a son, Daniel Joseph Vestring of Lubbock, Texas, and two daughters, Sarah Ann (Landon) Miller of Odessa, Texas, and Jenny Sue (Chad) Holdeman of Butte, North Dakota. He was most proud of them all. He is survived by grandchildren Tyler and Michael Holdeman, Haiden and Nathan Miller, and Brittany Ann Dowell. Tim is also survived by his younger sisters Judy (Don) Davis of Spring City, Pennsylvania, and Sharon Gay Massey of Odessa, Texas. He was preceded in death by his beloved father and mother, his older sister Susan (Palmer) Clark, and his stepson, Seth Andrew Dowell.
