Timothy James Bowen went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 12, 2021. He was 77.Tim was born on September 12, 1943 in Savannah, GA to Johnnie Reid and Grace Dorothy Waters Bowen. He married the love of his life, Lydia, in 1976. They welcomed their beloved son, James, in 1979.Tim served as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1968. Thereafter, he moved to Kingsville, TX where he worked as a Master Plumber and in 1970 earned a BA in Personal Management from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, TX.In 1974, Tim was instrumental in the opening the first Kettle franchise in Kingsville, Texas. He then opened the “Kettle” Pancake House in Harlingen where he humbly served the Rio Grande Valley community for over 40 years. Tim befriended all of his customers and always found time to sit and share a cup of coffee with them.Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Lydia, son James, sister Pamala Spencer, sister-in-law Elvia (Johnny) Sanchez, Chris De La Garza and “His Girls” (nieces) Michelle, Sharon, Cindy, Christine, and Dee as well as beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.Tim is preceded in death by his parents Johnnie and Grace Bowen, brothers John R. Bowen, Jr.
