Timothy Edgar Longley, 62, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville IL.

He was born December 23, 1957 in Jacksonville, IL, the eldest son of Theodore E. Longley & Mary Lou (Stewart) Longley

He is survived by 2 daughters Chasity (Travis) Sheffield of Denton, Texas and Kelly Johnson of Norfolk, Virginia; 6 grandkids, Truman, Michael, Brianna, Nevaeh, Mary Jewell and Jackson; sister Tammy Norwood of Jacksonville and brother Toby (Sharon) Longley of Concord along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tommy Longley.

Tim joined the Navy in 1976 and honorably served his country as an Engineer for 18 years before retiring as a Senior Chief in 1994. He traveled the world and lived life to the fullest in every regard. He had a magnetic personality and never knew a stranger. His personality, charm, intelligence, wit, and the ability to provide levity to any situation navigated him through some pretty treacherous waters in life. BUT… a Sailor he was, and will always be! He never failed to be the “Life of the Party”, he was so damn funny, always the one telling the jokes or sea stories. The lies got longer, the fish got bigger and stories got better over the years. He was definitely a natural born Leader and Teacher.

Tim always had an answer or a solution to whatever problem you came up with, it may not have been the most conventional answer, but none the less he had a fix. He was a tinkerer of all things and could make anything out of everything and fix anything you put in front of him. Except cooking, he wanted to be a good cook so bad but he was terrible at it. Nothing was impossible for him, he often quoted “Well, if it’s already broke then WTF”. He was meticulous with his “STUFF”, from his socks to his wrenches, everything had a place!  He had a love for Music, Football, NASCAR, fishing, and anything outside. He was a free spirit and knew NO limits. We have no doubts that you will be watching over your Baby girls.  Critiquing Kelly’s handy work in the garage and Chasity’s cooking.

You will Forever be our hero, May you rest in peace “THE DAD”!
