On Friday, January 31st, 2020, our beloved Timothy C. Wasmer, surrounded by his loving wife Laura Hayes, his brother Kevin Wasmer, sister Melinda (Mindy) Peters, and close friends, passed away peacefully. His vibrant life was cut short too soon but he lived every day to its fullest.
Tim was born to Lawrence J and Judith L Wasmer (now deceased) on November 29th, 1966 in St. Louis, Missouri. After the Wasmer family took root in the Chicago suburbs, he became incredibly active in the Boy Scouts of America, becoming an Eagle Scout and playing Varsity Football before graduating in 1985 from Downers Grove North High School in Downers Grove, Illinois. His love for nature and teaching others blossomed when he then became a camp counselor at the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. It was there that Tim fell in love with the Rocky Mountains and soon afterwards moved to the Denver area and has remained a loyal Coloradan ever since. He loved skiing, hiking and playing softball with his friends, even when his knees might tell him otherwise. Tim attended Arapahoe Community College, studying information technology, which led to him working at several large tech companies. In 2001, he followed in his Dad’s entrepreneurial footsteps to build his own successful IT company, Comprehensive Computing, LLC. Eventually he found a home as the IT director at Emich Automotive Group. As his many friends and coworkers can attest, he was always willing to offer his technical know-how to help those in need.
Tim’s passion for fixing things shined in his love for sports cars spanning many makes, especially BMW and Porsche (even a Ferrari kit car made it into his garage once). Anyone who can correctly name how many cars Tim owned over his lifetime wins the prize! Another hobby that he shared with the world was nature photography. Combining his technical skills with his love of the wild, capturing the beauty of Mother Nature came naturally.
Tim also loved his furry feline friends like family. He was a loyal cat owner that rescued a parade of cats over the past 30 years. He’ll be joined in heaven by Boomer, Cheeto, Shadow, Silhouette, Tabitha, Skyler, Pumpkin, Micro, Marbles, and many others. Any cat that made their way into Tim’s home and heart lived like royalty and was showered with love.
When Laura and Tim wed, he became an instant and natural grandpa, welcoming the latest baby just last year for a total 9 step grandchildren. Laura and Tim cherished their weekends at their dream cabin on the banks of Bear Creek in Evergreen, Colorado. Tim called the place Magical and couldn’t believe how lucky he was to have such a place to call home. This is where we will spread Tim’s ashes.
Throughout his years, Tim’s neighborly charm, oddball humor and helpful spirit blessed him with an abundance of close and faithful friendships. He will be dearly loved and missed by many for decades to come.
