Thomas “Tommy” Jefferson McVey, Jr. gained his heavenly wings on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the age of 71.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Linda Hackney McVey, who survives and the son of Thomas Jefferson McVey, Sr. and Jimmie Rushin McVey, both deceased.
Thomas worked as an electrician for Burlington Industries in his earlier years. He was a member of Chatham Friends Church and the Eli Whitney VFD Auxiliary. Thomas was also a member of the Chatham Area Shag Association and won the award “Shag Fans of the Year” in 2008. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed listening to beach music.
