Thomas “Tom” Luchtel, 68, of Spirit Lake passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at his home in Spirit Lake. Tom was born on October 8, 1948 to Harry and Erma (Onken) Luchtel in Laurens, IA. He graduated from Pocahontas Catholic High School in Pocahontas IA. He attended business college in Mankato, MN. Tom worked for several years as an IT Tech for Pure Fishing. He also ran his own company called T&L Home Maintenance serving customers around the lakes area. He was united in marriage to Linda Johnson in 1990. Tom enjoyed building and selling furniture, hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He is survived by his wife Linda Luchtel of Spirit Lake; daughters Jamie (Ryan) Van Erem of Waterloo and Audra (Justin) Crispin of Alamogordo, NM; step son Dennis (Melissa) Barie, Jr. of Spencer; four grandchildren, Jack and Jersey Van Erem; Sydney and Kennedy Crispin; brothers Jim (Rose) Luchtel of Omaha, NE and Dan Luchtel of Seattle, WA; brother in law Bruce Peterson of Denver, CO and his nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Kay Petersen.
