Thomas “Tom” A. Dunn, age 76, of Salem, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour 8:50 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013 at his home with his wife by his side, after a six month battle with lung cancer. Tom, the only child of the late Harry A. and Donna (Peterson) Dunn, was born September 10, 1937 in Greenville, Pennsylvania. A 1955 graduate of Conneaut Lake High School in Pennsylvania, he resided in Pennsylvania until moving to Salem in 1985. Tom was an over the road truck driver for Halls Motor Freight, Eazor Express, Cooper-Jarret Transport, and retired from MMS Trucking of Springfield Ohio on December 1, 2011. He was a member of the National American Legion, a former Teamster, and he served in the U. S. Army. Tom was a long time member of Harvest Baptist Church in Lisbon. Survivors include his wife Joyce “Joy” Adams Dunn, whom he married September 17, 1985; a son Michael A. Dunn and wife Monica of Conyers GA; a daughter, Deborah A. Ross and husband Dan of Los Gatos, CA; stepsons, Michael Daniel and wife Kelly of Blooming Grove, PA, and Mark Daniel and wife Diana of Salem, OH; stepdaughter Luanne Sweely and husband Mivan of Sebring, OH; two grandsons, two step-granddaughters, a step grandson, and two step great-grandsons. Tom was a kind gentleman who loved everyone he met and was especially close to his church family. The family would like to thank the Alliance Visiting Nurses / Hospice for their tender loving care during his illness, and to his many friends for all they did for him and his wife during this difficult time.
