Poestenkill – Thomas Terrance ‘Terry’ Hackett, 79, died Thursday, September 15, 2022, at his residence after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Thomas Hackett and Kathryn Angus Hackett and husband for 21 years of Alice E. Sambrook Hackett. He had resided most of his life in Wynantskill and graduated in the first class of St. Jude’s School in Wynantskill. 

Terry was a truck driver for Valente Sand and Gravel in Wynantskill for 37 1/2 years retiring in 2001. 

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, was a Director of Evergreen Cemetery in Wynantskill, a Life Member of  the Sullivan-Jones VFW Post, the Brunswick Lodge of Elks #2556, the Valente Gravel Retirement Breakfast Club at Carol’s Restaurant, a proud member of the Teamsters Union and former member of the North Greenbush Ambulance.  Terry was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wynantskill.  He and his wife enjoyed wintering in Daytona Beach, FL for 20 years.    

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Thomas Hackett, East Wakefield, NH; a daughter, Lori (David) Whitkens, Brookfield, NH; his stepdaughters, Debbie (Stephen) Mohl, Wynantskill, Barbara Plekan, St. Croix, Virgin Islands; a sister, Karen (William) Keegan, Wynantskill;  his grandchildren, Thomas and Taylor Hackett, Garrick Whitkens, Nicholas (Kelly)  Mohl, Andrew Ayotte and Cassie Little, 3 great grandchildren, Kelsey, Brooke and Caden Mohl; a niece, Kathleen Griner and his only nephew and bestman, Billy (Joanne)  Keegan.  He was predeceased by a stepson, Robert Dempsey.
