Thomas James Sotelo, 62, of Camarillo, left this world on Monday, July 18, 2011, to be with Our Father in Heaven, whom he dearly loved.
Tommy, as he was affectionately known by most, was born May 1, 1949 to the union of Aurora V. Bedolla and Jesus Torres Sotelo.
Tommy had been employed at DEX Data Exchange Corp. for the past 21 years at the time of his death. He was a loyal and dedicated employee. His job always came before all else. Prior to this, he was also employed doing landscaping and gardening at Leisure Village in Camarillo. Tommy enjoyed gardening. Through his gardening, he met many of his elderly friends. Tommy was a very humble person who enjoyed conversing with his friends. He was always ready to help any of his friends who needed assistance. It was through these friendships that Tommy began collecting antiques. He became an avid antique collector. He was also a history buff, collecting many historical items.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aurora V. Bedolla and Jesus Torres Sotelo; brothers, John and Frank “Pancho” Sotelo and Ronnie Navarro; sister, Jeanette Valencia and nephew, Daniel Valencia.
Tommy is survived by his daughter Marie Sotelo of Camarillo; son, Thomas James Sotelo Jr. of Ventura; grandchildren, Devean, Makayla, Anthony and Naomi; his sibling, Robert Arzabal of Oxnard, Hector Rico (Christina) of Camarillo, Yvonne Cervantez (Rick), Sandra Ortiz, Alma Rico of Camarillo and Jessie Perez (Daniel) of Santa Paula; stepfather, Benedicto Rico of Camarillo; and including numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. Tommy also leaves behind his best friend “Dukie” his beautiful and lovable dog.
He will be missed, but not forgotten. His memory will live forever in the hearts of all who loved him.
Viewing is planned for Tuesday, July 26, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m.
