Mr. Shadewald passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at his home in Norfolk.
Tom was born April 5, 1942 in Hendricks, Minnesota to Earl and Martha (Slattenow) Shadewald.
In 1960, he graduated from Brookings High School in South Dakota.
On September 2, 1962, he married Diane R. Barritt at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk. The couple raised their family in Norfolk.
In the 1960s, Tom worked for the Norfolk Livestock Market. After that, he worked as a top salesman for Guarantee Mutual Life Insurance Company earning the top award in 1974. Beginning in 1977 until 1995, he worked in various capacities for Nucor Steel. These capacities included supervising the completion of the second steel mill, working as a successful salesman and managing the traffic and warehouse departments. After his retirement in 1995, Tom worked various part-time jobs which included auto body repair and used car sales.
Tom loved his family and was always there to help everyone. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, target shooting, and attending gun shows. He was a member of the Northeast Nebraska Shooting Association.
Tom served for several years as an elder at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his daughter Deneen Shadewald of Omaha , son Todd (Ellie) Shadewald of Parker, CO, granddaughter Brittani Shadewald, grandson Colten Shadewald, brother Herb (Kay) Shadewald, niece Jennifer Shadewald, nephews Steven Shadewald and Byron (Jenny) Bauer, great niece Shelby Bauer, and great nephews Brenden and Nicholas Bauer.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
