View Tom’s Tribute VideoThomas R. O’Beirne, 92, (formally of Galesburg) died Wednesday September 9th at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.
He was born in Philo, Illinois on December 30, 1922 to William and Gladys-Harlow O’Beirne. Tom married Mildred “Millie” O’Beirne (deceased) in 1960 and raised 3 sons in Galesburg. Surviving are his children Mark (Jaci) O’Beirne of Lake Barrington IL, Matthew (Tabatha) O’Beirne of Ballwin, MO and Michael (Helen Yee) O’Beirne of San Rafael, CA along with 5 grandchildren: Katy, Sarah, Ryan, John and Nicholas O’Beirne. He was also preceded in death by 5 siblings. Tom was a veteran of the US Army in World War II and lived and worked in Galesburg for over 35 years. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary parish and many fraternal organizations throughout the area. Tom was mostly known as a Photographer in Galesburg for many years while operating Thomas Studio on Main Street. Many current and former residents of Galesburg were touched by Tom’s photographs over the years May He Rest in Peace.
