Norwich – Thomas P. Malone of 37 Canterbury Turnpike died Thursday in Rocky Hill of complications from Alzheimer’s Disease. He was 61. He was born in Willimantic on December, 25,1954 the son of the late James M. Malone and Katherine L. (Kelley) Malone. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother James M. Malone, Jr. in 1979. He is survived by his brother John F. (Jack) Malone of Hanover.
He graduated from St. Joseph’s Parochial Grammar School in 1968, attended St. Bernard’s High School and graduated from the Norwich Free Academy in 1973. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1975 and served aboard the U.S.S. Portland (LSD-37) in Little Creek, VA and aboard the U.S.S. Constellation (CV-64) in San Diego, CA. As a crew member on the Constellation he was aboard for two Western Pacific deployments and participation in extensive military operations carried out while at sea. For his role in the exercises in 1978 he was awarded the Navy Expeditionary Medal. He achieved the Rank of Radioman Third Class and was honorably discharged in 1979.
