Lavin1945~2022Thomas P., age 76 of Wilmington, Delaware formerly of Darby, PA passed away on March 17th surrounded by his loving was retired from the Philadelphia Navy Yard Shop 51. He was a member of the IBEW local 98 Electrical Union where he held the position as the financial secretary, and was an electrical instructor for DCCC and Temple University. He also was a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus for BVM assembly #913 Cardinal enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved camping with his wife and family. He enjoyed being outside, watching nature and the simplest things in life. He loved collecting knives and any little gadget he stumbled across. There’s not a person out there who enjoyed coffee more than him; sitting on his porch drinking his coffee with his dog made his day. If you shared that moment with him, you felt content just being in his presence. He was a Navy Vet and retired electrician from local 98. He achieved many things in his life. But you could tell by the way he talked about his electrical teaching down at the Navy Yard, that he was very proud of those achievements. If you took the time to have a conversation with him, you would walk away with undoubtedly the most interesting and unique stories. He had an endless supply of jokes to tell and was effortlessly one of the funniest guys. If you were in his family, you never once second guessed how much you meant to him because he showed that to you in his own genuine way. That includes his pup who never left his side and loved him unconditionally. He was a kind soul who would give you the shirt off his back in a heartbeat. In his old neighborhood he would fix the young kid’s bikes, make them fishing rods, or make basketball hoops out of crates; just to make sure they had something fun to do. Tom was an innovative, caring, and thoughtful guy. He’s going to be severely missed by everyone who cared about him, especially his wife who he loved and admired dearly. Predeceased by his dear brother Michael Lavin and sisters Joanne Acchione and Frances Kinkade. Survived by his beloved wife of 54 yrs. Patricia (nee Lazos); his cherished daughters Jeannine Lanoza (Jerry), Christina Lavin, and Jennifer Lavin; his 9 adoring grandchildren, Jonathan (Megan), Rebecca, Lauren (Francis), Alexis (Colin), and Nicholas (Christa), Matteo, Gerald, Isabella and Nicolas; and his 5 great grandchildren, Kayla, Maria, Alyssa, Aurora and Brielle; his dear brothers John (Penny), Dennis (Jeanette), Daniel (Kathy), and sister Theresa Newcomb (Richard); also his loving mother in law Jeannine Mermet.
