Thomas Mungovan, 83, passed away at his home on Sept 18, 2012 after a year long illness. Born Sept. 13, 1929, he graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1948, and from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science in 1950. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church.
He retired from the Tom Mungovan Funeral Home in 1996 after 47 years of service.
In 1980, he formed a group of dads to raise funds and build the football field at Bishop Luers High School.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marilyn. Daughters Susan Mungovan, Debra (Mark) Rondot, Theresa (Frank) Letizia, and Christine (James) Kiermaier all of Ft. Wayne. Sons Dr. Michael (Mary Beth), of Ft. Wayne, Anthony (Mary) and Peter (Jennifer) both of Indianapolis and Bro. James Mungovan O.F.M. of Papua New Guinea. Brothers Joseph (Jane), Richard (the late Barbara), and Gerald (Marilyn) and sister Agnes (George) Topp all of Ft. Wayne. 14 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
