His love for information was seen in his career and in his hobbies of reading and anything technology. He was a ferocious reader and was rarely without a book. His love of history was only matched by his love of mysteries. His vast knowledge of many topics was only matched by his quick wit.
Other pastimes included listening to all genres of music and watching both college and professional basketball and football. His love of history drew him into a love of locomotion which included a wide array of books on the topic and the building of his own model railroad.
